August 7th 2008 at 10:12 in the morning our precious baby boy made his long awaited appearance! He weighed in at 7 lbs, 6 ounces and was 19 and a half inches long.
Labor lasted from 1:30 in the morning when my water broke and contractions immediately started at 2 minutes apart. We rushed to the hospital and I was administered an epidural at 9:30 and Riley was born less than an hour later. He did have a bowel movement in utero, so NICU was on hand to suction out his airway in the hopes of keeping any miconium he could have swallowed out of his lungs. Their attempts were successful and he is 100% healthy.
Our first few nights at home have been uneventful. Riley wakes up every 2 and a half to 3 hours to eat and as soon as his diaper is changed and he's all wrapped up, he contently goes back to sleep. During the day when he's awake, he's very alert and calm as can be. He's absolutely beautiful and I couldn't have wished for a more sweet, handsome little man!
