36 weeks

Wow! Only 4 weeks left to go! That's a month! I'm so excited!

So what did the last few weeks have for me and little Riley?

My baby shower was on June 29th at Doug's mom's house. It was amazing! I got loads of things for the baby. I mean LOADS! It took me over an hour to open everything and I was trying to fly through it! Riley and I and Doug are so grateful for all the wonderful things! I'm planning to take lots of pictures of Riley's stuff for everyone to see. It took me forever to put away and even longer to wash everything so it's ready for Riley to wear and use. I love it!

Then last Thursday I went into false labor. I started experiencing cramping in my lower abdomen and it intensified and moved into my lower back. Doug came home from work and called the doctor. It lasted about two and half hours and began to dissipate when I chugged three glasses of water in 10 minutes. I was pretty scared at first, but the doctor said that he would be perfectly fine, just smaller than usual. Then when the contractions slowed down and stopped I was really disappointed. No, my bag was not packed and no Riley's clothes weren't washed and ready for him to wear, but I am definitely ready to have this baby!

Not to mention, after the labor on Thursday, I woke up Saturday morning and didn't feel Riley move at all for about 3 hours. I ate something, drank something, and laid down to focus on his movements and still didn't feel him move around for another hour. We called the doctor, and they had me come in. The baby's heart rate was really high and he absolutely refused to move, so they kept me for a few hours and made me drink lots of fluids until his heart rate stabalized and the monitor picked up some movement - not without tons of poking and prodding. We're not sure what caused his sleepy day, but I'm hoping it doesn't happen again. A little scary!

Otherwise, nothing else new. My belly is getting bigger and bigger. I continue to slurp down ice - it really helps to keep me cool considering the steamy weather we've been having. I swim at Doug's mom's house pretty much everyday and spend lots of time getting Riley's stuff ready. My brother and his girlfriend have been here since last Tuesday. It's nice to have people around, it makes the time pass by more quickly. My sister is planning to make a trip out here closer to Riley's due date and can hopefully stay until after he's born. She'll help me with all the last minute stuff that has to be done and keep me company while that last week drags by!

Here's to almost being Riley time!
